Dexter Jackson is the new Mr. Olympia out dueling Jay Cutler by a mere seven points. This was a good contest not a great one, because as we said before pro-bodybuilding is now in a brief transition period as they refine the winning criteria in a post Ronnie Coleman era. Wish Victor Martinez was in the action but he was injured. Click on this Flex Mag Link and get a look at some of the pics.

Saw the new Flex magazine the other day and their hyping a match up between Cutler and Jackson as the one to watch. It should be a good show but don’t sleep on Victor showing up in shape or some one else doing some damage. This isn’t like when Ronnie was ruling the roost, Jay doesn’t dominate that way and he has to be on in order to win. Plus these guys are starting to catch him in size and density. It should be a good show

Hey just got back from the NPC USA. It was a pretty good show. Took a friend who had never seen a contest before. She had some pretty good question, like why most of the guys looked and were built all the same. I tried to explain that most of todays bodybuilders train basically the same. I explained that the majority of them all get their training information from the mags or some so called trainers. They all use this iso machine and that iso machine. Which leads to about the same body displayed 20 or more time with slight variations here and there. She then said then said why don’t they do their own thing. I said I don’t know, it used to be that way back it the 70′, 80’s, and early 90’s but now it like follow the leader. If they see on doing it then it must be the way to do it. Then came the best question, Why are all the pros so much bigger than the amateurs? I said it all came down to time and money as in any professional adventure. The money resources you have to direct to your endeavor, the chances of your success become greater. I also told her the pros do change up their routines and train quite different from each other because they know individuality is the only way to win at the highest levels.

Came across an interview with Robbie Robinson the other day online. He was just being Robbie speaking his mind but made some really good points about the state of Pro Bodybuilding as it stands today. You have to remember that he did go over seas in the 80’s because of the politics associated with winning, but also because of the other side of the sport. One of the points he brought up was that the powers that be are making tons of money and the athlete’s on a whole aren’t making little to nothing with the exception of a few. The gist of it was that the powers in charge were holding down the contest and money to keep the feds from going after them for performance-drugs. We don’t know though because they(feds) tried a bust back some time ago with the Balco crap and ended up with basically squat! Is it being artificially held down so only a few can make allot don’t know. What we can say is that now is the time to put money into the sport and not pull back on contest. There needs to be a pooling of moneys to make certian a specific amount of show (we say at least 10) are put on each and every year. This catch as catch can stuff on the professional level just looses patrons. There are problems in professional bodybuilding just like most other sports and organizations, but the biggest is organization!
Tell us what you think is happening and what you think should be done.

Had a conversation the other day with a fellow as we both rode the stationary bikes and watched the TV at Gold’s the other day. He was talking about how sports is being ruined by drugs - namely steroids. Now I will say that steroids are a problem in pro sports but they are not the most damning of the drugs that follows pro sports.
With all the expectations of fans for winning championships and the push of merchandise to keep up with rising salaries its no wonder that players have to keep themselves on the field of play or loose millions of dollars. The most prevalent drug addition in pro sports are pain killers. You see it everyday when a player gets hurt and comes back to play because the team needs them. Though it seems heroic at the time, these injuries shorten carers and in some instances lives themselves.
Now steroids are a big problem in professional sports, but there are other things out there that pose an even more or as equal a danger as steroids and one of the biggest in my opinion are pain killers. They are very addictive and have been getting far to little attention.

2008 bodybuilding pro contest season has been the same old crap as in years past. Guys winning are the same ones from seasons past. This isn’t because they’re no on the contrary, the problem is the new blood is very suppect. Last year it was Phil Heath was the shit. He has inherent structural short coming like narrows shoulders, small lats, and thin calves. Now you’re seeing Dennis Wolf from germany being pushed in the mags. This guy has a complete package, buthe still needs more lower lats and alot better calves. The guy we think is a dark horse to be the next Coleman is Desmond Miller. Hey the guy isn’t being pushed by anyone we can tell, but already has the legs that put him above 90% of the professional ranks. With persistance and hard work to bring the upper body inline with the lower he will cruise to victories. Look at last years New Pro - 4th Place only behind the publicised guys. The guys got the potential(bad word in sports) he only got to bring it out. Heavy bent rows, benches, inclines, curls, extensions. We all kno w a upper body cathing up to a lower body is easier than the other way around.

I have been around this stuff for a long time and have seen it all but now adays seems to take the cake. Look out here on the internet and everybody has some kind of deal or amazing special going on that’s suppose to save you bucoo bucks. Then when you go to checkout your hit with expensive shipping fees. Hey this wouldn’t be that bad if most didn’t try to hide it until the end. Then their are the ones that due save you money but when you get it the packaging is damaged or the experation date is within a couple of months ( It should be years away!). Had a good converstion with one of our suppliers on this very subject the other day and he couldn’t believe some of the prices and how these guys are making any money at all. We both came to the same conclusion that you had better watch where you go and spend your money because some of these companies maybe here today and gone tommorrow with your money. Always check the URL and buy small for the first couple of times, if they are going to be their for the little orders, then after a couple of months you can test them on a little bigger order. Don’t rush in and get burned!!! Always, Always check your experation dates and don’t buy junk! Do you homework and see what others have to say at A1MuscleSports.com or other review sites first.
